Have you ever wanted or needed to remote control a computer for whatever reason, but didn’t know how? Well, I have a solution for you. That solution is LogMeIn, and it is Mac and PC compatible. You use your web browser to control the other computers, which is really nice and easy. All you need if an internet connection on both computers, and both computers to be on.

Once you create an account and log in, you can add computers. When you click the add computer button, you will be prompted to download LogMeIn Free for PC or Mac. Install it and your computer will be added once you log into the program with your LogMeIn account.

LogMeIn opens itself once your Mac or PC logs in. This great if you want to fix something on a friends computer or just want to do maintenance on another computer in your house. If you don’t want it to open on login, go to MSconfig and disable it under the startup tab, or use CCleaner to disable it. As of the posting of this article, I do not know how to disable it in OS X.

You will notice a few things when you actually start to remotely control the computer. The other person knows [so no sneaking up on people], the picture quality isn’t the best, there is some lag, no aero when controlling Vista or Windows 7, and some options. You can open a chat with the other computer, which is useful if you don’t use an IM client. You can put the remote controlled computers screen full screen on yours, which is helpful to improve quality of the picture. There are many things to like about this software, but my favorite is being able to change the resolution. Why? I have no clue. I guess I’m just weird like that.

Weirdness aside, controlling the computer is pretty cool. You have the control over everything, it’s just like you are sitting at the other computer. I highly recommend this software if you need to help anyone. Heck, why not go for the paid version after you read up on the additional features over the paid version.

If you are curious as to how it looks when controlling another computer

As you can see, I am not lying about the Mac and PC versions.

After much consideration and deliberation, I have decided to delete a mass of my Youtube videos. Now, this has not been an easy decision. I have been making videos for over a year, but then realized that my work is spotty, and I cringe at the views I have been getting. I am trying to get a partnership, but this isn’t going to happen with a mass of uncreative, uninformative, shitty videos.

As for my criteria for deleting, I have none. I am going to go through my videos, and delete the ones I feel are not up to snuff. If you know me, you will know I am hard on myself, so don’t be surprised if all my videos are gone. That is unlikely, though. I know of a few in my head already that I will keep, but I know many are goners. I am going to be doing a live feed on my site, and will let anyone that wants to help me delete them. Follow me on twitter if you want to know when that is taking place. Though I doubt you do.

Thank you for reading.

As you may or may not know, I am a junior in high school. That means I have to look at colleges against my will. I know I want to do something with computers, preferably PC repair, and I already have that down somewhat. So, as I search, clueless as to what I want to major in, it strikes me: NETWORKING.

Networking is one thing I know nothing about, but want to learn. Isn’t that what college is about? Now, some of you also know that I go to an alternative vocational school. My “shop” will teach me that, but that is one thing I want to go more in depth with, possibly more than the Cisco.

I should tell you my two requirements for the college I want to go to. Number one is be near Philadelphia. This is important to me. I want to get out of my home and home city, but don’t want to leave state. Plus, I will be able to go to some Eagles home games. Number two is have something I want to major in.

I was looking at Devry University, because I liked what I saw when they came and talked at my school. They seemed to meet all my requirements. Near Philly, and had some courses I was interested in. Only one problem: Tuition was way to expensive! It was almost $8,000/semester. Scratch them off the list.

Next I decided to check out Temple. Near Philly, but didn’t have something I wanted. For the sake of trying to keep this post from being too long, the next five didn’t have what I wanted.

Finally, I decided to check out Lincoln Tech. They have some campuses near and in Philly, with some courses I want. One thing I forgot to mention, I need some scholarships to let my mom let me go out of state. At the time of this blog post, I have no clue what they have in the way of scholarships, or how much tuition is. I requested information for their networking courses and PC repair course.

Updates to come.

On my twitter today, I got a link to a site with a video of Glenn Beck. Find that here. I am going to tell you right now, I do not like Fox News or Glenn Beck. They don’t make much sense to me a lot of times, but I digress. I urge you right now to now not to read the article, but just watch the video. Beck states that President Obama’s administration want to kill your voice on the internet via Net Neutrality. How, I have no clue since Net Neutrality is all about keeping you safe to web. Beck states that Obama only wants to help big guys like Google, Amazon, and Microsoft. He also states he wants to use it to get rid of news channels that don’t agree with the Obama administration, siting a former Obama administration member. What he fails to realize is, is that the former official is stating the role of progressive media can change. I believe the former official means that once the general public agrees with what Obama is doing, the traditional progressive media outlets won’t be so progressive anymore. What I mean by progressive media outlet is, is that say MSNBC (obviously biased towards the left), won’t be thinking different than the general public Fox News (biased to the right) will be.

Now that that is out of the way, I will explain Why Net Neutrality is a good thing in three points. I am leaving my points open to editing, and addition.

It doesn’t let your ISP to throttle your bandwidth based on what sites you go to. Think about that. Think of how annoying it will be if you are downloading say a linux ISO file from a torrent because the one you want is rare, or a home made movie from a family member, and Comcast decides you’re using too much bandwidth. What are they going to do? Why, they will cut your download speed until they see fit. Not good at all.

It regulates ISP’s. ISP’s are some of the only companies that don’t get regulated as much as other companies. The super market has to check food to make sure it’s ok. Cigarette companies can’t advertise on TV. TV shows can’t use copyrighted material without getting the O.K. from the copyright holder. The list goes on and on. I don’t see ISP’s being regulated like that, and correct me if they are. Regulation on ISP’s will make sure they cannot cut your connection suddenly without just cause, and possibly eliminate dial-up all together. The regulation may also control prices like the cigarette companies, in which that they can’t sell the product below a certain amount, and can’t sell it for more than a certain amount. That allows competition if the gap is wide enough, and will eventually make it easier on our wallets.

ISP’s wont be allowed to randomly disclose your browsing history. Most ISP’s normally don’t to begin with, but it’s nice to know that the porn you’ve been downloading won’t be exposed in a blog post on the ISP’s site . Now, if the government asks, I believe that they shouldn’t be allowed to view your browsing records. I hope that makes it into the bill, but I am not sure if it will. Keep your finger crossed that that makes it into the proposed bill.

Those are my reasons, please feel free to refute or agree with me in the comments below.
